Employability and digital inclusion
Monday 3rd March marks the start of National Careers Week so this month we are looking at the link between digital inclusion and employability.
According to the National Careers Service, most jobs now require digital skills. However, a 2023 report found that 7.5 million people or 18% of UK adults lacked the essential digital skills that are needed for the workplace.
Digital skills provide access to work opportunities. People without basic digital skills may find it harder to find vacancies and apply for work. Jobs are increasingly advertised online and promoted via social media platforms. Online application processes are common. Research shows that those who are digitally excluded are two to three times more likely to be unemployed.
Fortunately, we have a variety of resources to help you support people to develop the digital skills that will help them get into work and progress their careers.
