Celebrating Digital Inclusion Hubs: Hub of the Month

September Hub of the Month: Swansea MAD

Swansea MAD is a youth and community charity doing incredible work to combat digital exclusion, poverty, and isolation.  As an active partner in the National Databank and National Device Bank, they have distributed thousands of free SIM cards, mobile data packages, and refurbished laptops/tablets to low-income families, refugees, care-experienced youth, and isolated individuals.

They deliver daily digital drop-ins and structured workshops (using Learn My Way), providing hundreds of hours of tailored support annually. Learners build essential confidence in online safety, job seeking, managing benefits, accessing healthcare, and exploring AI. Rather than offering tech in isolation, Swansea MAD embeds digital inclusion within broader youth, employability, and wellbeing services—providing advocacy, mental health support, and creative opportunities alongside devices and data. Serving over 10,000 people each year as a Sky Up Digital Hub and Warm Welcome Hub, they showcase how strong collaboration with the National Digital Inclusion Network enables a small local organization to scale up and achieve lasting social change.
