Celebrating Digital Inclusion Hubs: Hub of the Month

01/10/2024

We're celebrating the hard work of the National Digital Inclusion Network by nominating a Hub of the Month every month.

April's Hub of the Month is…

Magenta Living

Magenta's JobPlus team is based in Bidston Rise Community House, in the very heart of the Bidston Rise estate. It acts as a vital anchor for the neighborhood, they have created a drop-in support where residents can access everything from social supermarkets and community lunches to accredited training and one-to-one employment advice.

Their "open door" philosophy is breaking down the traditional barriers to employment like childcare, travel costs, and the anxiety of formal office settings. The results speak for themselves:

  • 48 residents engaged through JobsPlus over the past two years
  • 16 people moved into new jobs, many of whom were taking their very first steps into the workforce
  • 50+ children and parents supported during every school holiday with sports, arts, and healthy meals.

As a proud member of the National Digital Inclusion Network since 2023, they have turned digital inclusion into immediate action. By embedding the National Databank directly into their JobsPlus offices. One standout success saw the team provide handsets and data to a father and son who were sharing a single phone. This simple intervention allowed them to respond to "same-day" construction call-outs, proving that being contactable is often the primary bridge between unemployment and a paycheck. From their massive digital safety session with Barclays (where 28 members received tablets and data) to their step-by-step Learn My Way modules, they are ensuring no one in Bidston Rise is left behind in a digital world.

A massive congratulations to Magenta Living, and thank you for all your hard work to fix the digital divide.
