Celebrating Digital Inclusion Hubs: Hub of the Month
We're celebrating the hard work of the National Digital Inclusion Network by nominating a Hub of the Month every month.
December's Hub of the Month is…
Age Connects Torfaen
Age Connects Torfaen's Digital Hub provides a welcoming, accessible space designed to help people living with dementia build confidence with technology and stay connected to the people who matter most.
The hub is equipped with user-friendly devices, assistive technology, and one-to-one support, enabling individuals to learn at their own pace in a calm and supportive environment.
A core part of their work focuses on helping people maintain meaningful relationships with loved ones who live far away. Through guided sessions, people learn how to use video calling, messaging apps, and digital photo platforms. For some, it has been the first time they have been able to independently contact children, grandchildren, or friends living across the UK or abroad.
They also support individuals to explore assistive technology that can help with daily living and memory support, including digital reminders, dementia-friendly apps, smart speakers, and tools that promote routine, safety, and independence. The team provides demonstrations, personalised guidance, and follow-up support to ensure people feel comfortable and empowered when using new devices.
For Get Online Week 2025, Age Connects Torfaen delivered a series of dementia-friendly digital sessions, demonstrations, and open events, which helped raise awareness of the importance of digital inclusion for those living with dementia. The campaign boosted engagement, brought new participants into the Hub, and strengthened the organisation's local partnerships.
The Digital Hub has supported dozens of people living with dementia, with many reporting improved wellbeing, reduced isolation, and a renewed sense of autonomy. The hub has become a vital resource for both individuals and carers, helping to enhance quality of life through meaningful digital inclusion.
A massive congratulations to Age Connects Torfaen, and thank you for all your hard work to fix the digital divide.
