Celebrating Digital Inclusion Hubs: Hub of the Month
We're celebrating the hard work of the National Digital Inclusion Network by nominating a Hub of the Month every month.
August Hub of the Month: Heeley Trust Community Hub
Heeley Trust delivers a wide range of essential services to residents across Heeley and Gleadless Valley. Working closely with social prescribing link workers, the Trust is dedicated to reducing digital exclusion by providing free computer access, volunteer-led support, and community-based training.
Through their community centre, volunteer-led Newfield Green Library, and local outreach, their incredible team has:
-
Delivered twice-weekly drop-in sessions offering one-to-one guidance to help residents build digital skills and gain confidence online.
-
Established a laptop loan scheme and secured a place in the National Device Bank to distribute permanent devices to those most in need.
-
Integrated digital support into a new NHS Mental Health Hub pilot, helping service users comfortably navigate the NHS App and online health services.
By bridging the digital divide, Heeley Trust gives local people vital access to everyday opportunities, essential online services, and healthcare—ensuring their community has the skills and support needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
Growing Together with the National Digital Inclusion Network
"The National Digital Inclusion Network has been an invaluable partner in Heeley Trust's digital inclusion journey. Donations of mobile phones, SIMs with free data, and laptops through Round 12 of the Device Bank have enabled us to significantly expand access across our community.
Beyond devices, we make extensive use of the Network's training and resources—such as Digital Champions and Supporting Basic Digital Skills (Learn My Way)—to equip our volunteers with the knowledge and confidence to provide effective, person-centred support. The combination of practical resources, learning opportunities, and peer support has strengthened our ability to deliver meaningful digital inclusion support and maximize our local impact."
A massive congratulations to Heeley Trust for their extraordinary work, dedication to their community, and passion for digital inclusion. Thank you for being such an inspiring part of our network!
